Coming from the name of the website - Mr. Money Mustache - it would be easy to assume this is all about money and the greedy society we are; something relating to how to make the rich richer. I am here to explain that this is completely false. Although the blog does talk a lot about money and how to make it, it has variations and other topics to talk about - I read an article about giving away free money! - Of course, not just randomly, but with meaning. Mr. Money Mustache talked a lot about donating money to charity. He makes it very clear that helping others and being a good person is the strongest most reliable source of happiness. So not only would we be helping others, we would also be creating happiness in our own lives. Another article I read had nothing to do with money, but did have to do with living our lives to the fullest potential by going outside int he winter time! He wants us to not only make money, but to experience everything in life, things most people don't. How many people do you know that go on a run in the dead night of winter? Mr. Money Mustache did - and he recommends it to everyone. You will see new things, hear new things, smell new things. It will allow you to live your life with full intent, and fully experience some of the hidden beauties this world has to offer - even if that means bundling up and sitting outside in the snow.
Mr. Money Mustache has a unique voice - he cusses a lot. Many people don't think much of this, but I think it shows a lot about him. It shows his audience that he's not afraid to hold back and that he's very open about his life. Most of his blog posts are formulated from personal experience, so he doesn't want to be leaving any details out. It takes a lot from someone to be so open, but one in one of the articles I read, he openly talks about his fear of getting up on stage and giving a public presentation. He also admits to us he hasn't yet done a public presentation because it's too much work. It takes a lot from people to be willing to admit their fears and weaknesses and Mr. Money Mustache does a great job of that which I believe makes him a more credible writer. It's easy to relate to him because we realize we have weaknesses and fears just like he does.
Overall, the blog of Mr. Money Mustache is a great resource for not only living a rich life but living a healthy, happy, fully experienced life. Everyone can benefit from this blog and I do believe it contains great lessons for living.

I like how you talked a lot about him and his blog, mentioning that he does talk about money, and it is one of his major points in the blog, but he also emphasizes personal growth and achieving happiness, not all of which is obtained through financial means!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly amazing that Mr. Money Mustache, a blog about money, also promotes happiness and confidence. One of the articles that I had chosen dealt with confidence and how it and money are not necessarily linked. He said that the goal of life was happiness, and that is something I hope that we all can agree with.
