Mr. Money Mustache Website Review by Timmy O’Brien

The Mr. Money Mustache is a blog website dedicated to giving financial advice to the common man living in America. It is based around the idea of spending as little as necessary while still living comfortably in our western culture. It seems to aim at people who are working class, whether they are just graduated from college, single, or now married with kids. The website is run by the now 44-year old Pete Adeney, who retired at the age of 30. The premise of the website is that if one follows the same steps he’s taken to get where he is now, they too will have similar or near identical results. His philosophy is basically to ensure you live your best life possible, which would likely stem from being financially responsible. This is certainly a good website for those using seeking financial help.

Pete Adeney is definitely a credible author of the site, as the advice he gives to readers certainly benefited him throughout his life and still does to this day. Many people who use his website comment on the forums explaining how much his life advice has benefitted them both financially and health wise. They are able to take better care of themselves and their children, just as he is able to. This further proves his qualifications in the matter, as the majority of the feedback on his site is highly positive. Pete was a software engineer before, which may make one question his financial qualifications. However, he retired at the age of 30, due to his financial responsibility. He was raised in a lifestyle where he had to buy the things he wanted himself, which in turn made him wiser with his spending. This shows that he knows what he’s talking about and isn’t simply tying to take advantage of his followers in the slightest.

Pete has a very outgoing and sarcastic/comedic attitude that makes him very relatable to his core audience. He also makes it clear he has their best interests in mind, and wants to make sire he comes across as a welcoming and accepting human being. He doesn’t talk down to anyone or their lifestyle, he just simply wants to share what he believes is the truth and how it can greatly benefit people in the long run. He comes across as being a very normal every man who just so happens to be great at giving financial advice. This I feel is the most attractive part of the site, the appeal to the common person. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a good financial lifestyle.

Pete doesn’t dress super flashy or expensively

  1. I think its important that it changed his life. It is a lot easier to follow someone's advice if there is proof, and his life is definitely proof of that. It motivates people that they can be like him if they follow his steps, and we see lots of evidence in the people who follow his blogs and say that it is working.
