Website Review

In the modern age, getting ahead financially seems impossible.  The rich keep getting richer, and the average person feels left behind.  That is where the story of Mr. Money Mustache begins.  On April 6, 2011 he started the blog telling readers the entire purpose of the blog, which is to inform people of how they can improve their financial situation. His website is set up to accommodate regular readers of the blog and direct them to social media pages or other blog posts to build an online community. The blog is mainly directed towards a fairy young audience that wants to become financially well off.  It is evident after reading the blog posts, that it would be beneficial for college students to read this blog.
One indicator of the quality of a website is the practicality of the article.  As a blog that is supposedly all about getting ahead in the financial world, it should be practical in its advice.  That is certainly true with this article.  One example that highlights this is in the post about his supposedly frugal stomach.  Though the author does discuss his own diet and its principles, it really tries to convey the message that readers should plan their meals and watch every penny they spend.  This advice is practical and can be executed by a majority of the readers.  An additional thing to consider is that his credibility, from the very first post, is emphasized and noteworthy.  He says in his first post and in several articles that he retired at age 30 and has his financial situation under control.  He's not just some millionaire looking down on the average person, he started with an average upbringing and drug himself up through smart decisions.  There's no reason that college students shouldn't read this if the author knows what they're talking about and offers practical advice for the common man.
When going to read an article, the quality of the webiste is extremely important.  Whether or not there is quality content is irrelevant if the website is impossible to navigate.  When first getting on the website, there is a paragraph welcoming new readers, and links to the very first blog post for them to catch up.  That is important and well thought out.  He also provides links to some of his most popular blogs as well as the newest ones.  His social media is also on the page, and easily accessible.  All of the links, as far as I have seen, work properly.  The personality of his writing is also ideal for the college student.  He uses words and phrases that are used by common people.  Swears are used as a way to make a point and grab readers' attention.  For college students, this style is extremely interesting and persuasive.

  2. I definitely agree that college students should use this website. It is very important that we get ahead of the game now rather than later, as it'll make our lives significantly less stressful. The sites practicality and usefulness are perfect for college students.

  3. Thomas, I liked what you said about how he is just an average man. I feel like that was what made me want to read more. He is just an average man finding ways to save money. I also liked how he gave examples of how he has done these things. By him personally doing these things I believed him that they would work.
