For being the first group to go you did a great job. I did not know that this is where the Star Wars movie was filmed. I thought the best part was the facts from Stanford with the healing. I found that very interesting. One thing I wished you talked a little more on was the deforestation.
ReplyDeleteYou guys did a great job, especially for being the first group up and having all the pressure! I think you guys did a really good job making it more relatable to us by talking about Star Wars, and I believed the most interesting thing I learned was that for every $1 the government put into the forest, they would generate $10 in returns. Your power point was well put together and it was interesting and didn't have too many words which I liked, but all the pictures added were important. One thing I do think you could have improved on was the pronunciation of certain words. It definitely makes you as presenters sound more confident.
ReplyDeleteYour group's presentation was very interesting. I didn't know that a park could make 90 million alone just from revenue. It was also neat to learn about the health benefits that the Redwood forest offers. One thing that I would critique is to form a conclusion from your analysis and present less facts.
ReplyDeleteI am a HUGE Star Wars fan, so I loved the Star Wars reference. I thought it was also neat to know that there are health benefits to visiting the Redwood Forest. I noticed in your presentation that there was an excessive use of fillers such as like, uhs, or ums. They clouded your points and made it hard to follow. I think you should try to use them less.
ReplyDeleteI actually visited the redwood forest this past summer and I have to say the pictures you guys used had a great representation for the forest. I also did not know that George Lucas used the redwood forest as a location for Return of the Jedi and now when I look back at scenes from the movie I recognize the trees are from the forest. I do think you guys should have talked more about the deforestation, it sounded more interesting compared to the finances you guys talked about.
ReplyDeleteGreat job for going first and being the leader in that way. In that position it can definitely be tough. You had braud topics that varied to all different parts of the forest. I was really inquisitive what facts you would come up with or a forest but you brought great topics up and compiled a fantastic presentation. Great job with your numbers and statistical information. One constructive criticism I have is to get the attention of your audience fast and keep it. Between the ums and ohs I got kind of lost throughout it, but overall great presentation with lots of information.
ReplyDeleteI also have wanted to visit the red wood forest. I found it cool about how Star Wars was filmed in the forest I didn't know that. I liked how you guys covered a variety of topics relating to the forest. One thing I think you could have expanded on is the deforestation part because it is a big deal in modern day. Good job on going first. It was interesting to learn about.
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow Star Wars nerd and lover, I was drawn in after hearing those 2 words and finding out that George Lucas used the Redwood Forests as an influence for his setting. I also found it interesting when you mentioned that the Redwood forests were a wonder of the world because I can’t speak for everyone, but I was unaware of this fact. I would recommend maybe adding more history in the presentation if you were to do it again, and talk about the Native Americans’ time spent in the forests because I was unaware that they ever occupied the Redwood Forests! Great work!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that the redwood forest was one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, or that it was a key part of the Star Wars Franchise. I would recommend adding more information about the history of the forest. Also I think the best thing about this presentation was how you expressed yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be really cool to visit the Redwood Forest sometime, so I thought the presentation was very interesting. I did not know Star Wars was filmed there, and I also had no idea the kind of revenue that was made by this national park. I would have liked to hear more about the deforestation and how the park has changed throughout the years. Overall it was a great presentation to set an example for the rest of them.
ReplyDeleteYou guys did a fantastic job as the first group, and it really felt genuine. I too have a love for forests and trees, so this presentation was especially interesting to me. As someone who loves Star Wars myself, especially Return of the Jedi, I was very surprised to learn about it being filmed in the Redwoods, as I had never known that. Overall a great presentation, only next time maybe work on memorizing a little more.
ReplyDeleteI really thought you guys did a great job! I thought it was a very engaging presentation. I personally have been to the Red Wood forests and can say that they are incredible. I thought the best part of your presentation was the part describing it's connection with Star Wars. I personally did not know these facts and thought that was super interesting. The only thing I could see being improved upon would be just a little more practice before hand to make it more seamless. Otherwise great work.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed listening to your presentation. I love being outdoors and this is a place I want to visit! Learning about it only made me want to visit even more than I did before. I did not know that part of Star Wars was filmed there so that was cool. It was also cool to hear about the health benefits. I felt like you guys needed more practice. I felt like it wasn’t even when you guys were talking. I think if you would of practiced talking it would be better. Overall it was a good presentation!
ReplyDeleteWe learned about the Redwood forest in this presentation and how big the forest is. We also learned some fun facts about it. I think the best part of the presentation was including the Star Wars facts in it,this definitely got people interested and held everyone's attention. This also helped us see why you guys picked the topic and that you guys were also interested in it. Some constructive feedback I would give is to go a little more in depth on the healing aspect. You talked a little about how people felt when they visited but I think a little more time could have been spent talking about this.
ReplyDeleteYou guys did a good job since you guys had to go first and had all the pressure on you. I am a big Star Wars fan and I had no idea that that is where they shot the movie at. I think that is really cool. I feel like you guys could’ve practiced a little more so that way you guys wouldn’t get stuck up when trying to prounouce certain words
ReplyDeleteBeing the first group to go I thought it was a great presentation, you guys had a lot of interesting facts. One thing I did not know that I thought was really interesting was that there was a scene from stars wars that was made in the red wood forest. I did think however, that you guys could've talked more about the deforestation because that would've been really cool to hear about but other than that it was still a good presentation.
ReplyDeleteYou guys did good for being the first group to go. I enjoyed how you guys explained that the redwood forest was iconic because of how it was used in the Star Wars franchise. I also thought the healing aspect of the forest was extremely interesting and the Stanford statistic you guys gave was useful. The only thing I think the presentation needed work on was making it more fluent.
ReplyDeleteOverall it was a good presentation, especially for being the first one to present. Many key points and facts were made that were complimented nice with your slides. I did not know they used the forest in Star Wars so that was interesting to hear about. You guys had a good balance of talking between the two of you. There were some times where you said “um” a lot but besides that it was a very good presentation.
ReplyDeleteI think they you guys gave a great presentation, i had never heard of the redwood forest before this presentation and found it really interesting to learn about. I found it really cool to learn that the wood from the redwood forest is an extremely durable type of wood that is great for building, and how they wanted to tear down the forest to create structures. Overall you guys seemed like you knew what you were talking about on a generally broad topic, and i think you hit all the important things. One thing i think you guys could improve on is organizing who talks at what time but other than that it was a great presentation.

ReplyDeleteI learned a lot from this presentation. Really liked how you guys talked about how we can stop deforestation and CO2 emissions.
